MCC began their work in Mexico after the devastating 1985 earthquake. Initially, MCC provided humanitarian aid, but the program quickly shifted to development to help affected communities move forward. Over the time, MCC Mexico developed a profile into a program with a focus on development, education and peace. In recent years MCC has adopted strategic lines of action including: migration, education, community development, ecumenism work, and non-violence and conflict transformation (peace), with special emphasis on women and children. In addition, MCC Mexico supports Low German Mennonite communities and the exchange programs of Salt, IVEP and YAMEN.
