This blog is produced by the various country programs and the regional advocacy program in the Latin America and Caribbean region of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). It is a site for sharing ideas, stories and action regarding programs and advocacy issues in the region. The opinions expressed on the blog, however, are not necessarily the opinions of MCC.
In Latin America and Caribbean, MCC has a local office in seven countries:
- Bolivia, with partners in Paraguay
- Colombia, with partners in Ecuador
- Guatemala, with partners and personnel in El Salvador
- Haiti
- Honduras
- Mexico
- Nicaragua, with partners in Costa Rica
The Advocacy Program of the Latin America and Caribbean (LACA) region of MCC facilitates contextual analysis, strategic planning for advocacy, organizational strengthening and strategic connections between partners. We support local and national advocacy action with partners and churches in the region, and with the churches and constituency in Canada and the United States to address the structural causes of poverty, violence, and injustice. MCC values the work of the partners we support and their insight into local contexts; the advocacy work is based in the work and expertise of partners.
Advocacy priorities in the Latin America and Caribbean region depend on the priorities of local partners. These priorities currently include migration, the use and care for natural resources and climate change.
