In their latest bulletin, the 10 young people in the MCC Seed Program in Colombia examine their relationships, learning, reflection and action as they complete their first year in this country. These young people of the Americas – Peru, Colombia, Mexico, US, and Canada – are living and working throughout Colombia in marginalized urban neighbourhoods, isolated rural villages, tropical lowland communities, and conflict-ridden cities.
They share their individuals stories of the past year in this news bulletin.
They describe their collective intentions for the coming year as follows:
As we focus on the next and final chapter of our time in Seed, we are challenged to think about what we will do with that we have learned, individually and as a group. How will we continue to engage with our communities in Colombia and back home?
Maybe the first thing we can do is to remind ourselves that no one has all the answers, yet we live in places where, by our very interactions, we are continually learning. While we may not have easy solutions, nor have we finished our process of mutual transformation, one thing is certain – we are learning to live in amazement of life.
As the poet Mary Oliver writes, “Let me keep my distance, always, from those who think they have the answers. Let me keep my company always with those who say “Look!” and laugh in astonishment and bow their heads.”
This is our prayer for our final year.
